Developing a Healthy Workplace Culture

Since The Institute’s inception, Gladys Woods and Haslin Constructions have been a big supporter of providing continuing professional development in their workplace. Offering a wide range of courses suited to the needs of the people in the organisation and their career progression, hear how the team at Haslin are continuing their development.

As a supervisor or manager in the industry, being exposed to a healthy workplace culture helps you achieve your best outcomes on the job and continue to grow and develop. Having access to a development program or plan in your organisation that provides specific, useful and up to date upskilling is key to achieving this.

A leader in the industry in this regard is Haslin Constructions who, over the past 18 months, have worked with The Institute to provide specific career development options for their team to maximise their performance. While this “specificity” may seem daunting to provide for employers due to the breadth of capabilities and skills in any business, utilising the industry’s own CPD provider simplifies this process.

Gladys Woods, General Manager of Haslin, explains how The Institute has provided this structure to support their workplace; “there are so many different roles and career paths in the civil industry it’s difficult for employers to be across all of the necessary training requirements and skill progression. ICI clarifies this for us by offering structured, sequenced training for all of our personnel.”

“Not only do the courses offer technical skill progression, there is also strong focus on developing expertise in people management. Training our employees to manage others well, I believe, is critical to developing a healthy workplace culture.”

If you are in an organisation that is looking to develop their workplace culture through upskilling team members and motivated staff through structured development plans, get in touch with the team at The Institute of Civil Infrastructure on 1300 424 287.
