WHS Management for new graduates and managers - Understanding the basics

Key topics covered:
Moving into a new people management role can be daunting, particularly in relation to managing workplace health and safety issues. This course will focus on the new graduate or manager’s role and obligation in relation to WHS, and how they operate in a civil construction worksite:
- Legal obligations and responsibilities
- Workplace health and safety compliance requirements
- Hazards and Risks Management SWMS and their role in reducing incidents/ accidents – the role of a manager
- WHS management systems and WHS management plans
- WHS consultation with employees
- Doing inductions
- Managing incidents, accidents and near misses / assisting in incident investigations
- Reading and understanding a site management rules and workplace inspection
- Emergency preparedness and response
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will gain an understanding of what their obligations are as a new engineer and/or manager in respect to WHS. The participants will gain ability to understand and implement an effective WHS management plan for the civil construction site
