28 June ICI Australia approved for Professional Engineers Assessment for Victoria June 28, 2022By ICI Administrator Newsetter 0 INDUSTRY’S OWN BODY APPROVED AS AN ASSESSMENT ENTITY FOR VICTORIAN CIVIL AND STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS The civil industry’s own continual professional development body, The Institute of Civil Infrastructure Australia (ICI) is delighted that the Victorian Government’s Building Licensing Authority (BLA) has approved the ICI as an approved assessment entity for Civil and Structural Engineers in Victoria. CEO of the ICI, David Castledine said “The approval will give the Victorian civil construction industry a genuinely civil-specific option for engineer registration. After an extensive and detailed review by the BLA we are absolutely thrilled to now be able to provide a solution for Victorian civil and structural engineers.” Funded entirely by the Civil Contractors Federation NSW and approved in August 2017 by Civil Contractors Federation Australia – the peak body representing employers in the civil industry – the ICI is a truly national solution for the industry. A solution created for the industry by the industry. Mr Mick Boyle, Vice President of CCF Australia and the first ever person to be graded Master Civil Infrastructure Manager said “This is an important moment not only for Victorian engineers, but for the civil industry across Australia. “The ICI was launched in 2019 by the civil construction industry as a resource to give the industry what it had never had - a civil-specific continual professional development solution that is dedicated to improving industry standards and providing recognition for supervisors and managers in the industry across Australia,” said Mr Boyle. Under the Victorian Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019, an engineer that provides Professional Engineering Services as described in the Act for work in Victoria must be registered with the BLA. Registration is first subject to approval from a registered assessment entity such as ICI. This registration becomes mandatory for Civil and Structural Engineers on 1st October 2022. Civil Contractors Federation Victoria supports ICI who is placed to ensure Victorian civil and structural engineers are compliant with the Act’s requirements before the upcoming deadline. In the coming weeks, more information, including lodgement of assessment applications, will be available on the ICI Australia website www.iciaustralia.com Information now available online - see here for more, or email admin@iciaustralia.com.
