We all play a vital role in this each and every day. International Women’s Day 2021 (IWD2021) is all about celebrating women’s achievements, raising awareness about women’s equality and striving for gender parity. In today’s civil infrastructure industry, there is a lot we can do every day, not just on March 8th, to create an inclusive industry. Organise a IWD event in the office or on site Plan a morning tea, Lunch, afternoon tea with a focus on getting together as a group to discuss actions that can be taken individually and collectively. "What action can I take to help forge a more gender equal world?" is a great place to start to raise awareness and align actions that can be taken to support a more inclusive work environment. Engage in mentoring programs There are a number of excellent programs set up to engage, mentor and develop women in our industry. One particular program of note is the Civil Contractors Federation Women in Civil Program. This program links experienced industry professionals with emerging female leaders in the industry providing them with mentoring and insights to support their career growth and development. Check out the relevant CCF Women in Civil website in your state. Reach out and Listen Spend some time listening to your colleagues, managers and direct reports discuss any specific issue they face in the workplace and the industry. Align solutions together that will continue to support women in the work place and in your community. An inclusive civil infrastructure industry is a better civil infrastructure industry.
