23 June The Institute of Civil Infrastructure announces new CEO June 23, 2023By ICI Administrator General #ICICEO #Expansion #civilinfrastructure #growth 0 The Institute of Civil Infrastructure (ICI Australia) recently announced the appointment of Lee Gabbett as its new Chief Executive Officer, taking over from David Castledine. Mr Gabbett has been the General Manager of ICI since 2021, forming part of the executive team responsible for driving strategy for the professional learning organisation, and overseeing its expansion nationwide. The ICI was developed by the Civil Contractors Federation NSW (CCF NSW) – the peak body for employers in civil construction and maintenance – to answer the industry’s call to improve standards among its supervisors and managers, through civil-specific, continuous professional development. Mr Gabbett has been responsible for expanding the ICI’s learning program and extending its catchment from NSW to almost every Australian state and territory. “This new appointment of a dedicated CEO for ICI Australia demonstrates the importance of its mission of providing industry standards, recognition, continual professional learning and networks that support the civil infrastructure industry,” the outgoing CEO David Castledine said. The growth of ICI Australia in recent years has been driven by a number of key strategies, including: Expansion of learning programs to more than 70 civil industry-specific online short courses; Implementing professional development pathways – designed for civil industry roles; Recognition of ICI Australia as a Professional Engineers Registration assessment entity for both Victoria and Queensland; Funding via Keystone Tasmania, allowing eligible civil contractors in Tasmania to access up to 100% funding for ICI courses; Nationwide networking and tours, giving Members behind-the-scenes access to significant infrastructure projects around Australia. The ICI remains proudly aligned with the values of the CCF NSW, ensuring that the Members of both organisations remain well supported and represented. This transition occurs at a time when ICI Australia is extremely well positioned for its rapid growth. Its expansion under a dedicated CEO will equip the non-for-profit to better meet the needs of this vital, nation-building industry that continues to face significant challenges in staffing. Mr Gabbett said: “I am thrilled to have been appointed CEO of ICI Australia at this time. We have a clear nationwide strategy, strong and positive feedback from civil contractors, and an increasing number of exclusive learning events and members. I would like to take this opportunity to thank David Castledine, whose vision for this organisation and strong, dynamic leadership have enabled its success and expanding footprint. “As ICI grows into the future, we will continue to be driven by our mantra of being for the industry, by the industry – ensuring we support, and keep up with the needs of Australia’s civil contractors and their teams.” Related Posts The Institute of Civil Infrastructure expands into Queensland The Institute of Civil Infrastructure has partnered with CCF QLD to launch the industry’s own continual professional development program for civil managers.
