Exceeding All Expectations With Delta Group

By Josh Hallam, General Manager ICI Australia

While 2020 has been an interesting and sometimes uncertain ride, one thing has remained constant – the need to grow, upskill and develop in your role is critical to your own success. We caught up with Delta Group to discuss how they have achieved reducing organisational risk and gaining a competitive advantage this year through professional development.

Reducing risk and gaining a competitive advantage is always critical. This need is more apparent in times of uncertainty where skilled supervisors and managers stand out through expertly managing challenges and overcoming barriers to ensure it is business as normal.

In our industry, The Institute of Civil Infrastructure provides individuals with the opportunity to upskill in their roles as leading hands, supervisors and managers. One organisation that has achieved this with great success in 2020 is Delta Group and we caught up with Construction Manager, Lindsay Ross, to discuss the impact The Institute has had.

“Delta Group engaged ICI to support the roll out of a frontline leadership training program for our blue- and white-collar workforce. The program has exceeded all expectations and made a positive impact on our NSW operations team”.

Through a series of Learning Courses across various streams and delivered to a wide cross-section of their team, managers engaged in ICI’s Learning Program which was flexible to meet the needs of Delta Group. Ross commented, “from the fundamentals of project management for civil construction to waste management; managing diversity in the workplace to contract management, ICI worked with our team to identify course lists and to initiate a self-booking process so the individuals took ownership of their decision to participate”.

Ross continued, “judging by the feedback we’ve received from all participants, the trainers and course content has made a strong impact.  ICI’s flexible delivery helped sustain the program through the initial wave of COVID-19 restrictions thanks to online and in person options.”

When asked what was next for Delta Group, Ross was adamant, “Delta will be reengaging with ICI for the roll out of the next phase in the near future”.

Congratulations to all the team at Delta Group who are one example of many developing themselves to lead through minimising risk, increasing employee capability and gaining a competitive advantage through The Institute’s Learning Program.
